PMO advises including military school elements in regular school

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has advised the HRD ministry to have the military school elements in the regular school. In a meeting organized by the PMO, the details about this inclusion were discussed.
This move is targeted towards enhancing discipline, physical fitness and patriotic outlook in the students studying in regular schools.
According to reports about the same, it is understood that that ministry led by Prakash Javadekar is looking to implement different features like Sainik School in schools including Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). Suggestions by the PMO are also discussed with the Central Board of Secondary Education where more than 20,000 schools in the country are affiliated.
The Defense Minister V K Krishna Menon conceived Sainik Schools in 1961, aiming at getting the youngsters prepared for defense services.
It’s not a big deal to replicate these elements in JNVs which are residential schools as well. Talented students hailing from rural areas get high quality education in these schools. They are enrolled in these schools by conducting entrance exam. In addition to focus towards academics, the students studying in residential schools will have to join with the National Cadet Corps where they will be subject to physical training and follow a much disciplined life. A lot of patriotic values will be taught too.
