45 days holiday for engineering students to take up internship, AU orders

As a move to increase employability of engineering graduates from over 500 engineering colleges, the Anna University has made an announcement to all the colleges requesting for 45 days holidays for all the students for doing internships and get prepared for higher studies. To create this opportunity for internships, the total number of semester exam days is reduced from 42 days to 28 days starting from this academic year.
The Anna University Controller of Examination G.V. Uma has forwarded a circular to all the principles of affiliated engineering colleges and has requested these colleges to announce winter holidays for 2 weeks according to academic schedule. It is mandatory to give summer holidays of at least 4 weeks before starting the next academic year.
The Registrar of Anna University, S. Ganesan said this will facilitate students in taking up internships and prepare for higher studies. Those wanting to pursue higher studies abroad can also find it easy to clear GRE or TOEFL exams, he adds. The All India Council for Technical Education has mandated the 4-week internship for all engineering graduates.
