The 19th Graduation Ceremony for presenting the degrees and awards to the grandaunts of Easwari Engineering College, Chennai was held on 21st April 2019 at the Easwari Engineering College, TRP Auditorium, Ramapuram, Chennai.
The Chief Guest Dr. M.K. Surappa, Vice Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai, delivered the convocation address by congratulating the rank holders. He dwelt in length the importance of education in the current scenario. It is not just something you do to advance in life. He advised the grandaunts Engineers the need to embrace broader vision of the professional role to inevitable progress of the nation with new innovation and leadership quality. He also advised that every Engineer needs to adapt to the changes that are taking place in the global economy. He also stressed the need for new outcome based learning by pursing professional ethics and accountability. He advised the grandaunts to enhance their communication skills and also develop managerial quality which is very much important in the present global scenario.
During the occasion, Dr. C. Ravichandran, Deputy Director, Easwari Engineering College, Dr. T. Muthamizhselvan, Governing Council Member, Easwari Engineering College, Dr. T. Sridhar, Director General, SRM Group of Institution, Ramapuram & Trichy campus, Dr. M. Sethuraman, Governing Council Member, Easwari Engineering College, Dr. Sandeep Sancheti, Vice Chancellor, SRM IST, Dr. Subbiah Bharathi, Director, SRM Group of Institution, Ramapuram, Dr. B. Venkatachalapathy, Dean Research, Easwari Engineering College, Dr. K. Kathiravan, Principal, Easwari Engineering College were present.
The Principal of the College, Dr. K. Kathiravan presented the Annual report which highlighted the significant contribution of the College in creating young engineers and technocrats for the nation building activity. 1061 Students received their degrees out of which 877 from Under Graduate stream, 184 from Post Graduate stream. From the UG stream 37 students and from the PG stream 22 students achieved University ranks and awards. TCS Best Student award was secured by our engineering students every year for their outstanding achievement in co curricular and extracurricular activities. Awards were also won by students of Engineering and Management for paper presentation in research journals.
The College has been accredited by leading industries and it has been considered as the preferred destination for Campus recruitment. More than 275 companies have visited our campus, to quote a few companies like TCS, Wipro, L&T Infotech etc and a record number of 419 students have been placed till date for the academic year. The Departments of ‘Computer Science and Engineering’, ‘Electrical and Electronics Engineering’, ‘Electronics and Communication Engineering’, ‘Mathematics’, ‘Physics’, ‘Computer Applications’ and ‘Chemistry’ have been approved as Nodal Centers for Research by Anna University, Chennai for pursuing M.S.(Research) and Ph.D. We have recognized supervisors under various universities. Our college e is imparting special value added training programme to students to make them employable by signing an MOU with more companies such as, TCS, CLRI, CWRCV, WTTY, Incorp., Kiran Global Chems Pvt. Ltd., National Instruments, USA, to name a few.
Cisco networking lab under Cisco Academy has been established in the Department of ECE, with CCNA International Certificate Programme. The departments of Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electricals & Electronic Engineering and the Department of Management Studies have signed MOUs with leading industries. Our college has received a grant of Rs 1 crore from DST to strengthen the research facilities for improving science & Technology Infrastructure and Rs 2.02 crores was received by Physics, Civil, EIE, Mechanical and ECE department towards Research Funded projects. Our College has been recognized under Section 2(f) & 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956. Special courses like programming in C, C+ etc. have been arranged by IT and CSE Department to enhance the student’s skills beyond their syllabus. Easwari Engineering College is one among the elite groups for promoting quality standards in line with Anna University and IIT.
The strength of our academic performance springs from the 241 faculty members which include 60 Ph.D.’s with rich industrial and Teaching Experience and 36 are pursuing Ph.D. As a part of providing quality education and quality assurance, apart from academic ambience, inspiration, enthusiasm and motivation, the college has HEC, EDC, IIPC, QCFI and IQAC forums to provide quality assurance education, to motivate & develop skills for self-employment. Our college has secured ISO 9001:2008 Certification from TUV South Asia.
