The state Minister for Law, Mr. C, V. Shanmugam, informed that activities are in progress to introduce the study of law in schools and colleges.

He informed this during the legislative assembly session when discussions regarding the demand for subsidies from various departments were in progress.

The Congress MLA J. G. Prince observed that the awareness of the laws was very low among the public. He recommended that it would be preferable to introduce the study of law in schools and colleges in order to improve the awareness.

The Law Minister responded that this was a good idea. It will be discussed with the Minister for Education and a decision will be taken.

Immediate activities will be certainly undertaken to introduce the study of law in schools to enable the students to be aware of the law.
