SET examinations – new rules to be implemented from the next year

SET (State Eligibility Test) and NET (National Eligibility Test) are conducted for appointments to the post of Assistant Professors. NET is for the appointment in colleges and universities throughout the country whereas SET would be applicable for appointments in that state only.
SET for Tamil Nadu State is conducted by the Kodaikkanal Mother Theresa University on behalf of the state government for the last 2 years.
In this test, the candidates who secure places in the 1st 15% are declared as successful.
This rule has been followed over the last several years. In this scenario, UGC (University Grants Commission) has now ordered that the state governments to implement a new rule,
As per this new rule, only the candidates who secured the marks in the 1st 6% will be declared as successful.
The higher officials of the Tamil Nadu state government department of education informed that this new rule will be implemented by the Tamil Nadu government from the next year.
