No minimum marks required for postgraduates applying for B.Ed

In the case of the candidate who are post graduates, it is not necessary that they must have scored the minimum prescribed marks in their graduate course. They can join B. Ed. Course.

This new system is set to be implemented from this year. So, the post graduates who have specialised in Tamil, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, History, Geography, and Computer Science need not have scored the minimum prescribed mark in the graduate course. They can apply for B. Ed.

When students are admitted for B. Ed. Course in government or government-aided colleges, the problem of minimum prescribed marks in the graduate course does not arise. This is because counselling for the seats will be conducted for only those who have scored above this prescribed limit.

As per this new system, the academic officials observe that even those who did not score the minimum prescribed marks in the graduate course can get admission to B. Ed. Courses.

As per the guidelines given by the secretary of the Department of Higher Education regarding the admission for B. Ed. Courses for the academic year 2017-18, the quota reserved for engineering graduates has been reduced from 20% to 10%.
