Government to acquire Raja Muthaiah Medical College of Annamalai University

It is likely that the state government will take over Raja Muthaiah Medical College of Annamalai University. This will then fall under the ambit of Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, said Sunil Paliwal, the higher education secretary.
Several steps are being taken to ease the financial crisis. Once extra staff members are appointed to the government colleges and universities, the government will be acquiring the medical and engineering colleges belonging to the university.
The fees for both BDS and MBBS courses will continue to remain the same as Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh. University professors said the annual running cost of the university is Rs 80 crore.
There will be nothing to affect the job opportunities with NET, SET qualified candidates, however.
The administration works of Annamalai University was taken over by the state government in 2013. This followed the various financial and administrative irregularities observed with the university that was under the control of Dr MAM Ramaswamy of Chettinad family.
