By increasing the total number of sessions, the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions Committee is eyeing on finishing up the engineering counselling by 15th of August.

As per sources, the counselling for engineering shall begin on 21st or 22nd July if things takes place as per schedule with the MBBS counselling.

The state government is getting an affidavit ready to seek for permission from the Supreme Court for postponing first year college opening from 1st August to 16th August for this year.

Sources say that the total number of sessions are to be increased from the present 8 numbers to 9. At the same time, there will be 60 terminals to accommodate increased number of students. The counselling days are to be cut down and the plan is to finish the counselling before 15th August.

As there prevails a commotion due to NEET, there is delay in MBBS counselling. If the delay continues, the committee would go ahead with engineering counselling without waiting for MBBS counselling to begin.

As there were about 5000 to 6730 top rankers in engineering counselling who are also eligible for medical seats, the government planned to postpone engineering counselling.

In case if the engineering counselling takes place before that of medical, there may be lot of vacancies with leading engineering colleges.
