Due to the issues encountered in NEET, there is a delay in the admission to the medical courses. This has led to a situation when there are doubts whether the counselling for admission to engineering courses will commence as scheduled on 27th June.
1.40 Lakhs applications have been received for admission to engineering courses.
It had already been announced that the random numbers will be allotted for the applicants on 20th June and the merit list will be released on 22nd June. The counseling was scheduled to start on 27th June.
It is a general trend to commence counselling for admission to engineering courses only after the counseling for medical courses is completed. In this year, there are several issues raised about NEET to be resolved and there is a delay in commencing admission activities for medical courses.
Recently, the Supreme Court cancelled the interim ban imposed by the Madurai High Court blocking the release of NEET results. The Supreme Court ordered CBSE to release NEET results immediately.
Still, this delay has raised questions whether the counselling for engineering courses will start on 27th June as scheduled.
When enquiring about this to the Secretary of Engineering Students, Admission, it was informed that 140844 applications have been received. As already announced, random numbers will be issued on 20th June as announced. The merit list will be released on 22nd June. The dates for counselling will be decided later.
