The 29th Convocation of Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University will be conducted at the Chennai University Centenary Hall on 6th September.

The function will be presided by the Tamil Nadu state Governor and the University Chancellor, Vidyasagar Rao. The state government minister and the University Co-chancellor Vijayabhaskar will lead the function. The University Vice-chancellor, Seethalakshmi, will deliver the inaugural address.

The secretary of the central government department of health and research, Soumya Swaminathan will be the special guest on this occasion.

In the convocation, 19195 students will receive their degrees in the fields of special higher education, research study, dentistry, Indian Medicine, and Homeopathy medicine.

2925 students will receive degrees directly on the occasion and 16670 students will receive their degrees through their respective colleges.

The State Governor and Chancellor, Vidyasagar Rao, will honour 139 students who excelled in the medical-related subjects with 166 gold and silver medals.
