CMC Vellore to cease MBBS admission through NEET

Not being able to follow the admission process after making NEET operational, the Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore has ceased admitting students to its MBBS and super-specialty courses for 2017-18.
Just 1 candidate in MBBS and 1 in super specialties will be admitted. Resultantly, about 99 MBBS seats and 61 super specialty seats are not to be filled, according to what the CMC council has decided.
This initiative is a result of post-NEET scenario where the government had mandated admissions for medical courses solely through single window counselling based on NEET marks.
The MBBS course shall be conducted only for a single student. Just one central government nominee who will be the son of martyr shall get admitted in DM cardiology, as per the orders from Supreme Court this year, says director of CMC, Sunil Chandy.
As per the usual admission process, all the 182 courses were filled, because the single window counselling was finalized during the eleventh hour by when admissions got wrapped up by the college.
