The parents of the students in IIT Chennai have heartily welcomed the proposal by IIT Chennai administration to implement a new system of education fees. In this new scheme, the education fees for each student will be decided based on the annual income of the parent.

For the parents with annual income less than Rs. 1 Lakh, the student has to pay the college fees of Rs. 13350 and the examination fee of Rs. 8800.

For the parents with an annual income in the range Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 2 Lakhs, the college fees will be from Rs. 45933 to Rs. 46683. The examination fees will be Rs. 42133.

For the parents with an annual income of above Rs. 5 Lakhs, the college fees will be from Rs. 112600to Rs. 113350. The examination fees will be Rs. 108800.

The fees for all students staying in the hostels is fixed at Rs. 23750.
