4 Medical colleges lose 600 MBBS seats this year

Because of admitting students for the financial year 2017-18 and 2018-19, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has debarred Annaii Medical College, Pennalur, and Kancheepuram.

Likewise, permission to admit students is denied for Madha Medical College and Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Institute of Medical Sciences. They aren’t allowed to admit students for the present academic year and the next year, 2018-19. To note, 150 students each were admitted annually in these colleges.

Admission of students for the present academic year is also denied for Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore.

Altogether, in these 4 colleges, they have lost 600 MBBS seats on the whole.

For the current academic year, the Ministry has allowed Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital under Bharath University for surging their total seats intake from 150 to 250. The Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences and Research that comes under Pondicherry University is given permission to enroll 150 students this year. About 15 percent seats ought to be surrendered to the all India quota by the government medical college.

Annapoorna Medical College and Hospital in Salem is given permission for admitting about 150 students in the present academic year.
