2011 Batch engineering students can’t appear for arrear exams

On Thursday, Anna University has announced that students who joined in engineering studies before 2011 will not be allowed to attend arrear exams as per university regulations.
Students who fall within their maximum period of study as per the regulations will only be able to take up the examinations, said G.V. Uma, the controller of examination at Anna University.
According to regulations, the total time to complete engineering course is 7 years. The university had however given exception from this rule in the past few years.
Priority should be given to students who write regular exams. Upon introducing Choice Based Credit System, it’s tough to conduct arrear exams for very old students.
For the current schedule, Anna University has come up with the exam schedule. The July-November semester will take place between 30th October and 30th November. Between 23rd and 28th October, practical exams will be conducted, said the release.
Students get about 2-4 weeks of winter holidays that will help them in pursuing internships in companies or industries. With reduced exam days, it will be possible for students to enjoy at least 4-6 weeks of summer holidays.
All colleges are advised to adhere to the academic and assessment schedule by the Anna University. From December 18, the next semester classes will begin.
